چکیده

Abstract In the age of real-time online traffic information and GPS-enabled devices, fastest-path computations between two points in a road network modeled as directed graph, where each edge is weighted by “travel time” value, are becoming standard feature many navigation-related applications. To support this, very efficient computation these paths large networks critical. Fastest may be computed minimal-cost but traditional path algorithms based on variants classical Dijkstra algorithm do not scale well, worst case they traverse entire graph. A common improvement, which can dramatically reduce number graph vertices traversed, A* algorithm, requires good heuristic lower bound minimal cost. We introduce simple, effective, function small values assigned to vertex. The separators efficiently preprocessing stage. present experimental results demonstrating that our provides estimates cost superior those other heuristics. Our experiments show when used this traversed an order magnitude compared

An Efficient Path Computation Model for Hierarchically Structured Topographical Road Maps

In this paper, we have developed a HiTi (Hierarchical MulTi) graph model for structuring large topographical road maps to speed up the minimum cost route computation. The HiTi graph model provides a novel approach to abstracting and structuring a topographical road map in a hierarchical fashion. We propose a new shortest path algorithm named SPAH, which utilizes HiTi graph model of a topographi...

Fastest-Path Computation

Definition In the United states, only 9.3% of the households do not have cars. Driving is part of people’s daily life. GIS systems like MapQuest and MapPoint are heavily relied on to provide driving directions. However, surprisingly enough, existing systems either ignore the driving speed on road networks, or assume the speed remains constant on the road segments. In both cases the users’ prefe...

Adaptive Fastest Path Computation on a Road Network: A Traffic Mining Approach

Efficient fastest path computation in the presence of varying speed conditions on a large scale road network is an essential problem in modern navigation systems. Factors affecting road speed, such as weather, time of day, and vehicle type, need to be considered in order to select fast routes that match current driving conditions. Most existing systems compute fastest paths based on road Euclid...

Continuous Fastest Path Planning in Road Networks by Mining Real-Time Traffic Event Information

In recent years, a number of studies had been done on the issues of fastest navigation path planning due to wide applications. Most of previous studies focused on the fastest path planning by mining historical traffic logs. However, the real time traffic situations in the road network always vary continuously due to the occurrences of traffic events. Therefore, a better planning strategy should...

Three Fastest Shortest Path Algorithms on Real Road Networks: Data Structures and Procedures

It is well known that computing shortest paths over a network is an important task in many network and transportation related analyses. Choosing an adequate algorithm from the numerous algorithms reported in the literature is a critical step in many applications involving real road networks. In a recent study, a set of three shortest path algorithms that run fastest on real road networks has be...
